  3. Greetings, may I humbly ask to be a member of the Flagship Eclipse detachment? My CotF Nihilus just got validated, and even though the pictures are not there, my costume is listed here : https://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=36681&costumeID=106 Many thanks !
  4. Popping in, because I too have this dream!! I would love to do this costume as well. Did you get any feedback on getting this added to the CRL?
  5. I worked on the shirt today. I have the front, back, and sides done. I’ll work on the sleeves and finish the bottom once it’s all done. for the optional horizontal lines, how have folks done these? Stitching or paint? Thanks! https://www.flickr.com/photos/200230557@N05/shares/5196gzMjgD
  6. Hi folks, I just wanted to share some of the pics I took during my shooting at the Georges Henri park in Brussels
  7. Okay, I'm finally done. Here is my latest version, and I got word from my GML that is got validated, it's only a matter of days for the official announcement. Thank you very much for your advice, and all the resources from this forum. I wish y'all the very best !
  8. https://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=36152 Hello there! Asking for full 501st acces with my Darth Nihilus KOTOR II costume

  10. @DarthValkyria Thanks! I joined that Facebook group and looked at some of the different fabric samples they had as well.
  11. That top left red fabric seems to match the texture as well! There is also a Merrin build group on Facebook you could join. I am not on my normal computer so can't log in and get the link, but it is there!
  12. I got the rest of the fabric samples I ordered. Here's all the ones I got for the red vest/tabards: I think the rayon challis (top right) is my favorite because of the color/texture/drape. Here's the samples I got for the leather: I think the brown is too warm still, so I think I'll go with the pleather I linked in my first post for gauntlets/belt. I think the wine pleather above will work for her hip panels though.
  13. I made a duct tape pattern for the gauntlets and finally a paper pattern with seam allowances. I've seen most people put the pleather over EVA foam. I also free handed her hip panel designs, but I made these on standard letter paper, so I think they might be too small, so I plan to redraw them bigger. I also made up her face markings, just freehanded them and did trial and error to get them to fit my face. I plan on putting this on plastic so I can use it as a stencil. I also got a few samples for her fabric. I really like the double gauze cotton for her turtleneck undershirt, but there's no stretch at all and it will have to be dyed a darker grey. I also got a red linen to try for her red tunic, but I think the weave is too lose on a linen. In reference images, the weave looks tighter, so I have more samples arriving soon that I think will be better.
  14. Hi all! Now that I’ve finally put together a list of materials and started purchasing some of it, I wanted to start my WIP thread for Fallen Order Merrin. I didn’t see a CRL for her, but it looks like one was drafted at one point, but I can’t seem to find it if anyone had a link to that. This is my first build ever, so I’m new to all of this. Here’s a list of the materials I’m planning to use: Necklace/Belt circle 3D print files from Etsy Paints: Rustoleum sandable primer? Krylon base gloss coat, maybe in black? Krylon premium foil metallic in gold Turtleneck undershirt: Pattern: https://simplicity.com/mccalls/m7999 fabric: double cotton gauze in charcoal Red tunic/tabbards: Fabric: trying out a few different samples to get the right texture and drape Pattern: I might make my own, but I did like the Adeline Dress from Forget Me Not patterns because of the pleating, but it would need modification Pants: I might just buy some grey jeans or black jeans from Old Navy (since in the image they're a very dark grey, almost black with some weathering on the thigh) Gauntlets: Faux Leather: Signature Series Vinyl 54" Sable Pattern: I'm going to do a duct tape pattern on myself Straps: 10 oz Cotton Duck Canvas (58/60 Inch) in idk color, fabric grain matches that in ref pics, or 1 inch twill tape Ring: something like an antique brass ring in a few sizes too big so the connecting fabric fits? or silicone Poseidon ring Fabric hand cover: Compression Wicking Performance Interlock in black since it has stretch and a sort of sheen to it like in the image Belt: Side leather panels: Fabric: Red Faux Leather Fabric To emboss it, I'll use a mixture of EVA foam and Kobracast, similar to the technique in this video. I think I might use some brown shoe polish to enhance the embossed areas as well. Belt leather: Brown Textured Faux Leather Fabric or same fabric as the gauntlets Gold rivets: still need to find something for this Boots: I bought Journee Ivie in Wine, and I’ll cut off the extra straps on the bottom and add in the leather on the heel. If these don’t fit/work (since they were on sale), I’m going to try Crowprops Merrin boots. Makeup: Mehron skin prep Mehron liquid FX in moonlight for the face, Mehron liquid FX in monster grey for the finger markings, Mehron light grey for the face markings Lipstick: NYX matte lipstick in haze Nail polish: Ella + Mila in London Fog, and a matte nail topper Hair: I looked around, but haven't found anything I liked yet. I've never worked with a wig before, so I'd love any company recommendations or tips anyone has! I'll start a thread under this with some of the fabric samples I already got and some of the parts that I've started putting together.
  15. Hi folks! I wanted to start a build thread and get some feedback on some items. The concept CRL is interesting as it allows leeway on several aspects (belt, collar, optional lines on the shirt) but I don't want to go too far afield with the options that are not shown in the CRL Hopefully I am putting this in the right place. Belt-does anyone have any approved references images for the belt having the lower skinny belts crossed in the front and back? The CRL shows 2 belts; one on the costumer and one on it's own. The one on its own looks like the crossed in an x pattern style, but I was wondering if anyone had an image of this on a person or if keeping to the action figure model as shown on the reference pics on the forum make sense. Shirt- horizontal lines- if I add horizontal lines to the light grey portion of the shirt, can they be stitched lines (same color as the fabric), folded-over layers to create the horizontal pattern, or should they be painted on? Collar- for the concentric rings- should these be created with overlapping layers, with a solid material in concentric circles under the material, stitching lines in the material, or another way? Does anyone have any approved costume references I can take a look at? I am having a tough time seeing the collar / neck seal details in the CRL Here are some images of collars I have made. Are either of these on the right track? Thank you! Concentric rings under the material: Overlapped leather (might benefit from some edging if this is on the right track)
  16. Hey all Requesting detachment access. Darth NIhilus KOTORII https://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=33918&costumeID=107
  17. Hello everyone! I am from south central PA (near Gettysburg) and am a new cadet with Garrison Carida. I just started working on a Ventress Concept build. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Ventress_concept I’ve been poking around at all the amazing information and help here and am excited to be part of the forums now. Wow. So many incredible costumes! I’ll post some pictures of my progress and about a million questions lol

  19. Hello. Applying for detachment access. https://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=42729 Thanks!
  20. Tunic & skirt weathered, just needs the tusken spikes on it. Will most likely make it darker at the part where the tunic and skirt meet, will see how dark the sash gets. Might also add a bit more weathering on the tunic.
  21. Hello All – I am the GML of Garrison Carida in Eastern Pennsylvania, and here for research. I'm a big believer in the Detachments, and rely on them for the best information and input. Greetings to all those aboard the Flagship Eclipse.
  22. Lightsaber printed and ready to be sanded and filled. Depending on what will look best, will most likely change the position of the piece it'll hang from from the waist sash. In the CRL it states that it needs to be attached via a covertec wheel, but the way my sash is built it wont be possible to. I'll most likely have to attach it via a tiny hook or a small carabiner.
  23. TK 21615 requesting detachment access. Realized I had never actually completed this step... https://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=28168&costumeID=124
  24. Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I will find a way to use the Zoom pedal lol
  25. I have a similar setup that I posted in this forum just last week. I did end up using just the mumbled audio clips since Nihilus didn't really speak that clearly (but I highly considered using it though because the audio was so well done). Make sure to use a wrap for the wires to keep them nice and clean. I also ended using a beefier amp, 30W and it holds up well. But I have to wait to get the costume and see how it will fit under the cloak. It's small enough that I think it will be ok. Looking good so far!
  26. Just an addition I worked on while waiting for the robes to arrive. I built a sound glove to use with it. I consider this to be the prototype version until I can get it smaller. The voice amp is rather small to begin with, its a 10 watt. The sound board, micro buttons, and 9v battery holder were all ordered from 123 Electronics. The board part # is FN-BC04. I found a tutorial on Youtube for this. The sound bytes I found on Youtube as well and just recorded them with Audacity and saved as .wav. There is another board with the buttons soldered on but there isn't any support for Windows 8/10/11 or newer versions of MacOS. I had it working, albeit buggy, under Debian Linux. So I bit the bullet and got the set up. I have a Zoom Multistomp MS-50G guitar pedal I may use in the future so I'm not limited to just 4 sound bytes. But I'd have to hide that and the voice amp. With this costume not having any armor pieces it could prove challenging. Youtube glove tutorial: PXL_20240307_182300186.TS.mp4
  27. A while back I decided to start a Nihilus "build". Now I say build, but its 98% a Wicked Armor v2, but its a character I've always loved and I can't sew a straight line to save my life. At this point its been completed and submitted by our GML. I didn't really have any problem along the way since I didn't do the work. I only had to fit and get the chest padding right. The skirt and cape were about 4 inches too long. It was easy enough to fix that. The chest padding - I read through the builds I kind find, but none really went into detail as to type of foam or strapping (if that's the method of choice). I reached out to someone here (I forgot your forum name) but the suggestion was EVA foam. The other suggesting I got was to use fusible interlacing fabric. It comes in varying degrees of "weight", some stiffer than others, and it basically irons on the other fabric. The basic principal here is to cut it to shape and iron it on the inside. I was worried about the latter in that it may not come out right and now its fused to the fabric. I dug out the roll of EVA foam I had and got to work. I measured my chest from should to shoulder across the front, and from the top of the collar bone to me belly button. I knew it was going to be too big but I could always cut it off. Next I drew the shape I wanted and through holding it up to my chest, adjusting the cuts, rinse and repeat until it looks right. Something I did pickup from a build thread here was to bevel the edges a bit. It definitely helped the overall look once it was all together. I don't have any photos of this process but I do of the finished piece. When I did the strapping I had to look up how to secure it to EVA. The straps are elastic, I attached some webbing to the back of the soft velcro, then glued that to the EVA foam with E6000. Then I attached the hard velcro to the elastics ends. SO the end product has an elastic strap that goes around my back, and one goes around my neck. So the final result, im not sure what that darker spot is on my left breast area. But its not there now So again, this is the KOTOR II Nihilus from Wicked Armor (v2). I think I waited about 2 1/2 months for it.
