Smiling Friends is finally going to be making its highly anticipated comeback with Season 3 this Fall, and Adult Swim has dropped the first trailer showing off the new episodes. Smiling Friends has been one of the biggest original animated hits with Adult Swim in the last few years as the animated series has introduced fans to a very wacky world with its own set of even wackier rules. It’s made the wait for new episodes all the tougher, and luckily that wait is going to come to an end soon enough as the third season premieres later this October.
With Smiling Friends Season 3 set to premiere with Adult Swim this October, fans have gotten the first real look at the new season with the first trailer for the new episodes. Pim and Charlie will be doing their best to bring smiles to faces much like the first two seasons, but it’s already teasing a very chaotic return that fans know well enough about the franchise by now. What to Know for Smiling Friends Season 3’s Premiere
Smiling Friends Season 3 will be premiering with Adult Swim on October 5th at midnight, and will be streaming its new episodes with HBO Max the next day. It’s also where you can catch up with the first two seasons of the series and “Smiling Friends Go to Brazil” special that was dropped in between the seasons. And much like those first two seasons, it’s pretty much impossible to guess what’s actually going to happen as there are all sorts of new faces in the mix this time around. Even the synopsis for the new season teases some new additions to the crew too.
Adult Swim teased a little bit of what to expect from Smiling Friends Season 3, and teased a new character named “Flint” who likely won’t have any real importance at all, “Season Three of ‘SMILING FRIENDS’ finds Pim, Charlie, Flint and the whole gang going absolutely bonkers once again, diving headfirst into their ultimate quest to spread joy upon the land. We’ll see a bunch of unexpected stuff here such as Mr. Frog running full speed at the camera, the team finally collecting all the spirit gems they need, and a totally epic showdown spectacle with an Ancient Witch of some sort. AHHHHH!!!!”
What’s Next for Smiling Friends?
Smiling Friends is set to return for Season 3 this Fall, which was quickly confirmed to be in the works after Season 2’s success. It’s a bit different for the series’ future, however, as Adult Swim has actually renewed Smiling Friends for both Seasons 4 and 5 ahead of Season 3’s premiere. It’s a big renewal with Adult Swim that continues to showcase how much confidence they have in the runaway hit, but the creators behind it all have already started to think about when they’ll bring the series to an end.
Smiling Friends series creators Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel have both mentioned that they wanted the animated series to run for a good amount of time, but also want to end it before it goes on for too long. It’s unclear as to whether they will want to end the series after Season 5 hits, but it’s something fans have to keep in the back of their minds as we enjoy new episodes over the next few years.
