The outer dress is almost finished! Just need to add the sleeves and finish the hems. Tonight, I straightened the bottom hemline, and I’m working on finding the best angles for the side slit hem. Once I’m satisfied that the side slit will look good, I’ll take the dress off the mannequin and trim off the excess fabric. After that, I’m going to finish the sleeves. If all goes well, I plan to glue the side hem tonight, then the bottom hem after the glue has time to set. I am hoping that Aleene’s Fabric Fusion will be able to handle the weight of the vinyl fabric, as well as the stress involved with the dress being worn. I’m getting so close to finishing this costume!

The veil is made with the same fabric as the inner dress. With my KOTOR II version, I used two layers of color-matched chiffon (from Joann’s bridal section) with sheer black fusible interfacing under the gold trim covering my eyes. With the cotton fabric, I can see just as well through two layers of the cotton. Personally, I think she’s probably going to send up looking under the hem of the veil when she needs to actually see where she’s going.

    Hello from the Michigan Area

Ive seen that theres been changes, and been trying to keep up with the updates and whats been changed. Saw that there was a change in the Mask design, just ordered a WA V2 Mask as i saw it has the correct chin points. Ill likely start a build thread sometime soon as i have questions and start working on collecting my parts to make sure i get things that will work well.

    Hello from the Michigan Area

Welcome! There was recently an overhaul of the Revan CRL and requirements, so if you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask as many of the posts are outdated now.
  7. Im not sure how I forgot to post a HELLO , been lurking in several detachments for awhile trying to make a decision on what direction I wanted to go with my first 501st kit. Ive been an approved Mando Merc for almost 2 years now, wavered on several different ideas, and think ive finally decided to try to do a Revan with some prodding from one of my Clanmates that just got her Nihilus approved this week. Ive been reading quite a few of the different threads, and im sure ill have questions as i get working on this. Looking forward to interacting with everyone here and getting to work on building my first 501st kit!! Azrayel Tal'Galaar

Some folks use a sheer fabric only on the part covered by the gold pattern to make it easier to see. The rest is the same fabric as the main dress. If you do that route, make sure it is color/matched and you can't directly see the eyes.

is the entire vale a different material or just Part of it? That may be a dumb question.

So I fixed the gloves. A friend is modeling my gauntlets but also modeled my greeblies And I worked for a couple days in class to get my jacket body fitting correctly. As I thought there was a lot of extra in the side seam, and I took some out in the shoulder seam as well, dropped the armhole, and took in my sleeve. But it's fitting a lot better now. Now I think that I'm done with the test fit of the jacket so I'm gonna rip this apart and transfer it to paper and I'll post some pics of my patterns in case people would like to see them.

Update: Hood is finished. Gonna have to fix up the ends of the shoulder to make each side look even enough. Also going to add either a piece of velcro or a magnet to pull the hood back to make it lay properly. To do: New red sash. Replacing the hakama since the skirt isn't split. Modify the armor bridge length between the abdominal and chest pieces. The wide gap is making my legs look short. And lastly, probably add more length to the vambraces/gauntlets.
  19. So I see threads on almost every costume for Starkillers Desert Survival Gear, but none of which on where to buy? Anyone have any leads for where to buy parts for this costume?

I used a nice cotton fabric, which is a bit to the heavy side for a nice drape and for the veil to stay in place in windy weather - I was so lucky to find a tulle in the same color, which I layed double to use before my eyes. With the golden hot iron on vinyl pattern on, you can´t tell there is a diffence in the fabric

Thanks for the info Nina, I intend to work more on the armor, but now that i know that the shape is ok, I can get rid of the bumps in the armor and streamline it more, this was the result of the first ''shaping'' to fit me. Using Worbla and eva foam on such a scale is new to me, these are the first try pieces I might redo the paint job entirely, if i cannot get the surface smoother, might need to use more of a filler primer to smooth the surface and then use spraycans instead of brushes. I'm looking at some spray colors from montana which might do the trick.

With regards to connections, I have straps that go from the back to the front armor pieces, and then I have a little reinforced strips that I have attached to the straps with a clip to hold the cloak. The cloak has little reinforced strips with the other half of the clip. I'll attach my ghetto 3 minute drawing in the next comment. The armor stays together well enough using the belt ring straps. I have connection points holding those straps to the ab plate where it normally rests, as well as where the straps show on the back armor. The little black oval-ish shaped parts also have velcro on them that matches to velcro parts on the kidney armor just above the bottom edge so everything fits snug and tight. Everything else stays together with the bridges. The capelet part drapes separately over everything else. The armor shape looks good, but the surface texture should be a lot smoother. There are a lot of ridges and bumps. The back armor part with the reddish brown part looks a bit too red, but that can be fixed with a bit of brown-wash over the color. It'll also add a nice weathing effect without going overboard.

I used some cotton like fabric (not pure cotton), light /medium material, and very nice to wear. I trooped outside with 32 ° Celsius, no clouds, and it was still OK. Since you have to use the same fabric for the veil, make sure you can see through it, and that the eyes are not visible from the outside. If the costume is worn for some hours, it's very useful to see as much as possible. Take some fabric which doesn't crease too much.

  28. Update time. So I went ahead and did the CRL version to submit and hopefully wear while the game version goes through the NttL process. Front Right Back Left Any feedback welcome! The red is actually growing on me, the more I work with it.
