  1. Just started - but he's apparently not taking anymore orders until he clears some backlog. It's just over half the cost of the cast kit. I don't have it in hand yet - but I have paid a deposit for the waiting list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks for the reply! I think I'm going to go with their robe - and I've paid for Mynock's armor kit! Just in the nick of time too - he's not taking any more orders until his current backlog of the cast and new ABS kits are cleared according to his FB page. Really looking forward to the lightsaber! 3. I'm in the same boat Sir - once I get the ABS kit I'll be starting my Acolyte build as well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Hello all. This is going to be a long running and slowly updated thread, fair warning now. No I have not lost interest, or dropped off the face of the earth - I would like some of the costume mentors to chime in on this, and hopefully others that have successfully completed an Acolyte build and gotten Legion approval if that is not too much of a bother. Thanks in advance! First up is the lightsaber: It is a saber forge Champion tier Acolyte, weathered, with the Crimson (dark side) sound font. Internals are a 12W LED. I assume that this will be OK - seeing as the CRL states:"Option: Any Sith-styled saber with a red blade is acceptable." Please check me if I am incorrect in this assumption. The picture shows a non-weathered hilt, but the only difference is that mine will be a darker hilt. Currently on order from SF and I expect it within a few weeks. My next question is in regards to the robes. I was looking here: Mystik Merchant. Has anyone dealt with them in the past - and if so what is their product like. I would order it without the bands as I would prefer to paint them myself - a few of the robes I have seen have the bands a bit too red for my personal preference and I would like to avoid that. Anyways - thoughts on the accessories so far? I have put out feelers to Mynock for his Armor Kit - I understand that it is a bit on the pricy side, but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. However - that being said, I am also a firm believer in choices and options. Are there any other reputable kit vendors out there that I should look at? Any advice on that front would be excellent. Thanks all!
  6. Good morning. I have made my way over here from the Florida Garrison (Everglades Squad) and, while currently stationed in VA, I will be relocating to Miami in May on military orders. I wanted to get to know some of the 501st folks in my soon to be local area before heading down. I have toyed around with joining the 501st for a few years now, but life and other fandoms have always gotten in the way and my Star Wars costumes have never been started. But this time I am resolved - lol! A bit about me - I have been costuming for about 7 years now, mostly military cosplay: Firefly Browncoat, Halo, Alliance Trooper/Officer (Firefly), and more recently many various uniforms from David Weber's Honor Harrington series as a member of The Royal Manticoran Navy, The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association where I serve on their canon costume design and research team. I am currently looking at putting together a Sith Acolyte from SWTOR. I have put out a few feelers on the RPF in regards to the helmet and armor - and I have found a source for the robes that I think will do nicely. Saber Forge is providing the lightsaber, appropriately the Acolyte model with a crimson soundboard and 12W LEDs. Incidentally, I will also put out a feeler here to Mynock if I am unable to contact him via the RPF as it is his armor system and V5 mask/helmet that I am most interested in. I really look forward to getting to know everyone. This will be my first Star Wars project, but not my first armor project, having built two heavily modified Sean Bradley ODST kits in the past - but those were not going up for any sort of review or approval - so any advice that anyone can offer as to this particular armor, the other available kits, assembly/painting, and pitfalls to avoid on the road to approval, would be greatly appreciated. I have been reading a lot of the build threads here on the forums (searched Sith Acolyte) and have noticed a few instances where people needed to re-do things or scrap the whole affair and start over - this enlisted guy cannot afford such mistakes - lol Thanks all!
