REQUIRED PARTS:

Cape, Hood, and Capelet
For 501st approval:

  • Heavy black fabric is used for the cape, hood, and capelet.
  • The cape is box-pleated and reaches nearly to the floor.
    • Option: A knife pleat variant is also acceptable.
  • The hood is full and drapes around the face in the front to create a cowl-like appearance.
  • The capelet attaches to the hooks on the black sections of the cuirass. It is attached with silver clasps at four points, two on the left, two on the right, and then drapes around the shoulders.
  • Accurate clasps are strongly recommended. Rings are acceptable if a more accurate alternative is not available.

For 501st approval:

  • The mask extends up to the top of the head.
  • It has a dark gray and rust red color scheme on the front, and the paint is heavily weathered.
  • The eye slit is filled with a lens that is dark enough to obscure the eyes behind it.
  • Black side panels matching the game renders may be included to cover the sides of the costumer's face, but they are not required.
  • Note: It is not clear if the black area visible in the game render was meant to be a piece of the mask, or if it is a rough rendering of Revan's face which was supposed to be hidden by the hood. Because of this uncertainty, the black side panels may be included or left off of the mask at the costumer's discretion.

Balaclava
For 501st approval:

  • A form-fitting black balaclava is worn to hide the costumer's face and neck.

I like most of the changes.  One note though... for the saber, you have the description that the pommel is gold / brass in color, but the reference image looks gray / pewter in color for the pommel.

Also, are currently approved costumes being grandfathered?

I actually didn't even read that part of the existing CRL, but thanks for catching that! The pommel can be grey or black, the emitter is gold or brass.

Existing costumes will not be affected by the changes, but it is recommended to update. Your choice, though.

Correct. The armor does not come as a chest and back piece in the game, they are a single item and show together. No official reference of Revan shows only the chest armor. The optional back piece that is listed currently was more due to the cape covering it, but for the new one, that will not be the case.

Correct. It is currently listed as pleated, but will no longer be. Any costumes currently approved will not have to change anything, but as with any CRL update, it is recommended.

I suggest rolled pleats for skirt as well. I used this type of pleats when I was sewing Revan's costume for a friend and it keeps shape very good, without ironing. It's very comfortable during trooping, when there's no time and space to iron stuff.

I take it the back armor is now no longer an optional accessory?

It will not be optional come full revision.

The rolled pleats look great, just make sure the skirt has a split down the entire length on the front and back. No solid skirts for approval.

Thank you :) in fact there are trousers. Such type of pleats give an illusion of skirt, but when a person moves, split is visible. So I wonder if only skirt is an option? It could be either skirt or trousers in hakama style - in both options there will be visible opening.

The hakama style wraps around the legs, while the skirt style does not. to date, no reference has shown the wrapped style to exist, which is why i am phasing out the hakama style.

For the four silver rings on the top front of the cuirass - there was a time that I could have sworn the recommended thing to use was something similar to these two Tandy clasps:

https://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/oval-spring-snaps-nickel-plate

https://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/round-trigger-snaps-nickel-plated

If you look at the close up of the cuirass, it does appears as though there is some metal extending from the silver rings, similar to how these Tandy clasps look, so I'm a little surprised to see that the CRL is just going with only "rings". Though, is that why it goes on to say "Clasps are acceptable, but rings are more accurate for attachment."? If rings are being considered more accurate though, then what is the explanation for what appears to be the metal extending from them?

They are rings in the files, and the claps do not match up to the shape, especially that tab that seems to be metallic.

Revanludotomb.jpg

Even black series has interpreted it as a ring with tabs and not clasps (hard to see here but the mold shows the room in the curiass mold).

Ultrasabers is selling pre-orders for a new model that looks close to this: Savior.

I think we are the target audience for this.
