New to The Legion Detachment Assignment

Recommended Posts

A question was raised on to which Detachment a certain character should go once they were approved in the Legion. I would like to share my stance on the topic with The Flagship Eclipse

1. Placement of a new to the Legion Character should be decided by Detachment.
2. More than one Detachment can offer a home for same character. But for the Legion’s sake, I recommend one official home;

3. When in doubt, while an LMO is a swell place to turn to for guidance, but do not forget to ask the first approved costumer themselves.

It would be in deep error to assign a character to a detachment before a costumer has been approved. I argue strongly that the first costumer should have the right to declare the home of their costume--within the constraints of Legion Detachment system.

That said, we know Disney has commissioned this character (The Seven Sister.)

From past discussion the Legion approved Grand Inquisitor is a welcomed character in The Flagship Eclipse. I thought I just read SLD preferred the Pau’an to be in TFE. (The Flagshp Eclipse, please do not use FSE.)

∴ I would imagine an approved Seventh Sister would find their way (she or he costumed as a the female character) in The Flagship Eclipse. If that was their choice.

I cant see the Seventh Sister going anywhere but here, it would be an interesting placement to see her anywhere else. To build this costume and submit it (if you have a WIP up) I could see the costumer receiving the most support though using this forum. That is just my two cents on the subject.

SLD seems to want actual Sith characters, course they took Kylo Ren which has been stated as not being a Sith.

Seeing a Rebels is canon, it doesn't make a ton of sense for the characters of the 7th Sister and such to really be here in a EU detachment.  The new idea of a new underworld like detachment is not a bad idea, characters like Ventress also belong elsewhere if part of the official canon like The Clone Wars

There is a discussion going on currently on the main Legion boards about the need for a new detachment for underworld characters. The discussion has now branched that perhaps we need 2 new detachments, one for the "scum and villainy" which would be crime lords, gangsters, pirates, etc. And also the need for a new Canon Dark Side Detachment that would represent characters, such as the new Knights of Ren and the Inquisitors. I am making a Seventh Sister costume and I do NOT see her as Flagship, but at the same time, I don't see where she would fit. With this new and expanding group of characters, I think it is time the Legion took a good hard look at the detachments and perhaps made 1 or 2 new ones to accommodate the soon-to-be influx of new characters.

I'm a little tired of the "stick it in Flagship" attitude that has developed in the Legion. Yes, there are characters that still belong here, but we are getting too big to handle all the costumes we have. Our CRL's are lacking, many questions on characters go unanswered despite the Costume Mentors best efforts. Flagship needs to pull up it's boots and work hard to support the characters we currently have rather than trying to add more than we can handle.

You can see the discussion here: http://www.501st.com...hp?f=29&t=90008

This is quoted from the Knights of Ren topic here on the boards: http://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1995-knights-of-ren-crls/

It is easier to quote the exact same thing I would put in here. We need new detachments to help cover all the new characters that are coming up.

I'll add an analogy though, I feel like it has become a mad game of Hungry Hungry Hippos where everyone is trying to snatch up as many new characters as they can, but they are not putting thought into the after effect of once they have them. Can TFE properly support and help these new costumes? At the moment, we can hardly help and support out current ones, so I feel it would be to greater detriment rather than benefit to have them here. The greater needs of the costumers must be looked at. I feel a new detachment focused on the new dark side users would be a better and more supportive structure for these costumes.

Just my 2 cents. :)
