My Mara Jade Costume

Hello all,

This is my first post here. I'm Tyka from Belgium.

I've done a Mara Jade costume but it's not approved by the 501st yet.

I must work to an other jumpsuit and they have recommanded to me to see your own site

I had seen photos of the mara's jade costume on the 501st web site but I think they don't match with the new criteria.

Your forum is very interresting and full of great usefull tips :o

I see with your tutorials that I must have:

From 6 to 10 horizontal panels run down the legs from the front of each thigh to the inner leg seam, extending from the hips to knees

Two rows of piping run from each shoulder down the front of the jumpsuit, bordering the thigh panels down to the knees.

I must replace the "floating" belt on the right hip

Have you another remarks or advises for me :?:

Thank a lot !

Tyka

Hello fellow belgian girl!

Nice to see another belgian costumer around here. I used to to think about making a mara Jade too, it's a great costume. Your version seems quite good too, but like you said, you might adapt some things and I see you already knows how. Good luck with it!

P.S: are you dutch or frenchspeaking? or German?

your English is EXCELLENT!

for the thigh panels - it is not too difficult to add those to an already made jumpsuit - mark up where you want to attach them with chalk and press some DARK paper up against the chalk to see what pattern you need to add the panels (on the inside) - add a little for a seam allowance and padding and then hand sew it on. Unless you want to take apart your suit entirely, you will have to hand sew them.

the floating strap is not too rough to do either.

NICE WORK on your costume!

Jen

Thank you Jen for the advice, I'll try that!

I want to thank Thomas Spanos too for his good advices and to recommanded me to register here!

Through it, it will make my costumes looks better, for sure !

I'll post new pictures here when all the mofifications will be made, I'm motivated to join the 501st, more than ever!

My French isn't that good but I'll surely understand you, we have some frenchspeaking members in the RL too :-) Are you coming to the Star Wars exhibition? Rebel Legion and Fanwars (501st Southern Belgium) will be there at the opening, and so am I!

Maybe you can get to know them there, Fanwars are nice people, and a good contact to get your costume approved. They have my address too, when the Imperial Knights are approved I'll directly hear it from them.

And to stay on topic: it still looks great your costume and I think the hint of bassclarinets is useful. I think Fanwars has a member woth the same costume so maybe you can find her if you need some more help.

If I'm not wrong the Rebel Legion is like the 501st Legion but for the good characters, isn't?

Maybe I'll come as visitor to the Brussels Star Wars Exhibition.

I've already seen the guys of Fanwars in Facts I think. I don't know them really and I'm a little shy

I'm a Prospectors Squad member (the group with the Jabba).

It will be a pleasure for me to meet Fanwars and the Rebel Legion and to see an other Mara Jade! :)

Kind of 2 years late.

Very nice costume.

As for the Rebels, yes, they are the same, but for the good guys, there are some characters accepted on both organizations, like the Jawas for example.

We have a few guys here that have applied for both with Jawa costumes.
