  1. Sounds great, I can't wait to see how it turns out.
  2. I use a hook and loop system for my inner tunic, this way it will stay in place. I don't use anything for the outer one, that's held in place by my belt.
  3. Here is the mask I use for COTF https://www.etsy.com/listing/245124688/darth-nihilus-mask?ref=shop_home_active_18
  4. Yes, like I said it is ultimately up to your local GML. In my opinion this costume is not approvable as it is show from the MWA website. The last MWA costume I saw was earlier this year and it was not approved right out of the box because it did not meet the CRL. This was before the recent update to the CRL.
  5. In my opinion. Ultimately it is up to your GML to approve. There needs to be two distinct tunics, the MWA has two but last time I saw one the inner tunic was not a cross over one. The outer skirt should be open in the center, the MWA is not. The cape and hood should be one piece, the MWA often looks like 2 pieces. The costume should be heavily tattered, the MWA looks almost burnt. The mask should be skull like with distinct cheek bones, the MWA is almost smooth.
  6. The costume standards have been update very recently.
  7. Yes, the lightsaber hilt is not required for approval currently.
  8. The lightsaber is not currently required for approval. Also the Wicked Armor costume has several things that are not approvable with is, including the mask.
  9. As is the Wicked Armor costume is not approvable for COTF Nihilus.
  10. I used raw black silk for the main part of my costume, and a cotton fabric for the sleeves.
  11. Which version of the costume are you making?
  12. I felt the same way about weathering my costume when I made it. Looks great so far.
  13. Do you have 2 tunics with the costume? It's a little hard to tell from the picture. Also are there 2 separate skirts?
  14. Welcome! There are several people here that will be able to help you out with the build. Good luck with it.
  15. This is probably going to be a long post, so bear with me. The MWA kit, in my opinion, is not acceptable for a Darth Nihilus costume. Especially if you are wanting to do the KOTOR II version. I'm going to assume that's the version you are talking about since it's in your topic. 1. The hood and cape are not correct. The MWA kit has the hood and cape as one piece it's just pleated to make it look separate. There should be a separate hood and cape. 2. The tunic in the MWA kit is a cross over style tunic with quilted sleeves. For KOTOR II it should be a plain tunic with padding, and the cape is sew directly to the tunic. The sleeves should be plain. 3. The skirt should by straight with no opening at all. The MWA one has two skirts and they have openings in the front. 4. The MWA mask is not shaped correctly. 5. The MWA kit is heavily tattered. The KOTOR II version should be clean with no tattering at all. I've attached some game file images to show you how the KOTOR II version of Darth Nihilus should look. I hope all of this helps, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
  16. I don't remember what I did on my sleeves. I think mine are around an inch in width, just make sure they are even all the way around.
  17. Version A is the correct version to use. I can update the draft to give a better clarification of the requirement.
  18. I posted a new draft of the COTF CRL several weeks ago. You can find it here if you would like to look at it or comment http://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forums/index.php?/topic/2331-darth-nihilus-cotf-update-crl/
  19. Technically there are 2 separate capes, but this is only to give it more volume without putting strain on your hear and neck. If you do it right you'll never know there are 2 capes.
  20. The cape and hood should be one single piece of fabric. I used the guide from this site http://chucrew.com/Nihilus/nihilus.html It has a great description of how to make the cape/hood.
  21. The new CRL draft is a little more specific. It says that it should be open in the front center.
  22. In my personal opinion, and the way the new CRL will be written, will not allow for the masks to be interchangeable. Meaning that the style of mask that Pam makes should not be used with the KOTOR II style of Nihilus.
  23. I have a crown piece that I bought that makes the shape of the entire head.
