Lana Beniko was a human female Sith Lord during the Old Republic Era. In the Galactic War against the Republic she served as advisor to Dark Council member Darth Arkous.



This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.


  • This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum.
  • GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum.
  • Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval.
  • Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.
  • Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GMLs and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.


Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.


LanaShirt.jpeg Under-Tunic
  • The under-tunic is black or charcoal grey in color.
  • The under-tunic has a collar which extends to the top of the costumer’s neck.
  • The under-tunic sleeve and extends to the wrist.




LanaTunic.jpeg Outer-Tunic
  • The outer-tunic is dark grey in color and a shade lighter than the inner tunic.
  • The outer-tunic is short sleeved, the sleeves end between the elbow and the armpit.
  • There is a 1" (2.5cm) band of trim along the bottom skirting and on the sides where two five-sided designs with chamfered edges. These are placed on the right and left hand side. The first design is just below the armpit and the second is just below the belt at the mid-hipline. The trim for these designs is 1" (2.5cm) wide.
  • At each side of bottom skirting of the outer-tunic there is a small trapeze extending from the trim. This trapeze is capped by a small bar of the same light grey as the trim.




LanaTabards.jpeg Tabards
  • The tabards are made of the same fabric as the outer-tunic.
  • On the front and back the length of the tabards may extend no longer than 2" (5cm) beyond the hem of the outer-tunic.
  • The tabards have a thin light grey 1/4" (.6cm) border on all four sides.
  • The width of each of the tabards should be the approximately the size of the costumer’s shoulders.




LanaChestPlate.jpeg Chest Plate
  • The chest armor the same matte color as the under-tunic. The piece is devoid of design and extends from the costumer’s neck to the upper-mid chest.




LanaShall.jpeg Shawl
  • The shawl closes with a small silver binding on the costumer’s left side.
  • On the costumer’s right side it should upper mid-chest.
  • On the back it should stop short of the belt and end in a point.




LanaGlove.jpeg Left Glove
  • The glove is a Black or Charcoal grey gauntlet made of leather or leather-like material, enclosed fingered, non-textured, fitted gauntlet length, with brown or burgundy portion with seven strips, sewen outline inside, which includes a tiny gray outline outside the detail.
  • Above the glove there's a black bracer made of leather or leather-like material, on the upper end of that 10 small grey triangles, which have smaller darker triangles inside.
  • On the bracer there is a silver band in the middle which is wider than the ones above the elbow.
  • On the band there is a pattern of 4 unique rectangles.





LanaArm.jpeg Right Glove
  • Short black glove with grey detailing.
  • All fingers have armor parts similar to robot finger joints — four longer fingers have 3 strips covering them and one part for the end of the finger. Parts should allow the customer to move their fingers freely. There is also one strip on the wrist part of the glove (it covers only outer part of the hand).
  • At the wrist join there is a gauntlet, painted black and is adorned with the following pieces:
    • The main part of the gauntlet has a tiny seam on the inner side of the arm — on that seam there is three markings — two light gray dots at the top and bottom and one elongated oval in the middle.
    • Two brown straps are holding the upper part.
    • On the front side of the upper gauntlet is a control panel. Three white indicators, two red, one light blue and three small black. The position and shape of the indicators should match visual reference.




LanaDetails.jpeg Decorative Band
  • The clothing is adorned with a decorative band at the bicep.
  • The band is silver colored and matches the rest of the armor parts.
  • On the outer side of the rings small trapeze were cut out (the longer side is up, the short one matches the edge of the ring).




LanaBelt.jpeg Belt
  • The belt is made of leather or leather-like material
  • In the middle there is a wide brown or burgundy inset and at the top and bottom is trimmed with silver or light gray strips.
  • Round buckle that has the following design:
    • The main section is round with a small circle at the center that is off set,
    • The secondary layer is the same size as the main one, only the inside part is cut so that at the top is a trapeze that reaches the center of the circle. The trapeze has two small strips on it.
    • The inside section of the buckle is a bit darker than the outer.
    • The part that connects buckle attaches at both sides of the buckle, flat at the top with a angled bottom.
  • The belt sits at an angle ( the backside is slightly higher than at the front.)




LanaShoulder.jpeg Shoulder Armor
  • The shoulder armor is light gray or silver color (should match the color of the rest armor parts).
  • The shape is larger at the top and conforms to the costumers shoulder, wrapping around the shoulder blade.
  • The design voids in a flat edge above the bicep no more than two inches above the outter tunics sleeve.
  • Five stripes — one in the middle, the other one placed with equal intervals at both sides.





LanaPants.jpeg Pants
  • The pants are the same material as the inner tunic.
  • The pants are tailored and almost form fitting.




LanaBoots.jpeg Boots
  • If the boots display a heel they should be no more than 1' high.
  • There are 3 horizontal stripes on the leg and one horizontal strip on the foot.
  • The lower strip on the leg is connected to strip on the foot on the outer and inner sides.
  • There are two small bags at the outer side of each boot.
  • The bag begins just above the bottom of a lower horizontal strip and ends above the upper band, almost at the end of the boot.




LanaShin.jpeg Shin and Knee Armor
  • Light gray or metallic silver color (should match the color of the rest armor parts).
  • The length of the Shin Armor from lower horizontal strip on the boots almost to the knee armor.
  • The shin armor piece is divided in the ratio of 2:1 with slightly rounded strip.
  • Five parts above the line — **Four straight small plates and the fifth part in the middle is a narrow trapeze. **Three small lines that have the same size are placed on top of the last part above the middle **two close and third one below a little further away.
  • The knee armor has three main stripes
  • The upper strip — in the middle the strip is horizontal, and then curled up. Under that there is isosceles trapezoid, with longer side up.
  • On the sides of knee pads are small circles in diameter 0.4 – 0.6 (10–15 mm).
  • The middle strip of the knee armor is shaped like the upper one but longer and bent down.
  • Below the wide strip is a small line, repeating the contour. And beneath the line again isosceles trapezoid only more elongated.
  • The lower strip is the same as the first one, only mirrored and bent down.





LanaHair.jpeg Hair
  • Short blond hair, should end a few inches above the shoulders.
  • Cut in a feathered design at the ends.





LanaEyes.jpeg Eye Color
  • Yellowish red contact lenses.
  • While encouraged to complete the look of this character, the contact lens requirement will be waived for 501st acceptance, if the applicant cannot wear contact lenses for health related reasons. All persons utilizing contact lenses are encouraged to first see their optometrist for a fitting.





Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.
