This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.


  • This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum.
  • GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum.
  • Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval.
  • Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.
  • Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GMLs and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.


Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.


Arica Bodysuit Hair.jpg Red Hair
  • The hair or wig is red-gold in color.
  • The hair may reach from the shoulders to mid-back in length.

  • The makeup includes red lipstick and violet eye shadow.




Arica Bodysuit Suit.jpg Bodysuit
  • The one piece bodysuit is form fitting.
  • It is made from a low sheen blue-violet or blue-gray stretch material.
  • The left sleeve is wrist length,
    • The right shoulder and arm remain bare.
  • The right pant leg is ankle length.
    • The left leg extends only to mid thigh.
  • There are no fasteners or openings on the front.
    • Any zippers are hidden on the back or on the right side.
  • Silver or gray swirling patterns are embroidered, painted, or sculpted and attached to the bodysuit in the following locations:
    • On the right leg, encircling the bottom pant hem.
    • On the outer right leg, extending from the bottom hem up to mid thigh.
      • The design broadens at the knee, coming around to cover the front of the knee.
    • On the left wrist, encircling the sleeve hem.
    • On the back of the left arm, extending from the hem up to mid-upper arm.




Arica Bodysuit Shoulder.jpg Pauldron
  • A large, rounded pauldron covers the left shoulder.
  • This decorative armor is silver or gray in color and it is intricately sculpted with a deep, swirling pattern.
    • A darker silver or gray color may be used in the low points of the armor to enhance the visibility of the design.




Arica Bodysuit Armband.jpg Arm Band
  • A silver arm band is worn on the upper right arm.
  • Armband is approximately eight centimeters wide.
  • This decorative band is silver or gray in color and it is intricately sculpted with a deep, swirling pattern.
    • A darker silver or gray color may be used in the low points of the band to enhance the visibility of the design.




Arica Bodysuit Forearm.jpg Forearm Bracer
  • A bracer is worn on the right forearm.
  • The bracer completely encircles the arm and extends from the wrist up to a few inches below the elbow.
  • This decorative armor is silver or gray in color and it is intricately sculpted with a deep, swirling pattern.
    • A darker silver or gray color may be used in the low points of the armor to enhance the visibility of the design.




Arica Bodysuit Belt.jpg Belt
  • The gold belt is made from three braided cords.
  • One cord is worn snugly around the waist while the others hang lower on the left hip.
  • Two cord tassels hang freely on the right side and reach to mid-thigh.
  • A round, intricately sculpted belt clasp or buckle is located at the front right hip.
    • The sculpted belt clasp may be silver or gold in color.




Arica Bodysuit Leg.jpg Greave
  • A greave is worn on the left leg which completely encircles the lower leg.
  • The greave reaches from the ankle to just below the knee on the outer side of the leg, and slopes down a few inches lower on the inner side.
  • This decorative armor is silver or gray in color and it is intricately sculpted with a deep, swirling pattern.
    • A darker silver or gray color may used in the low points of the armor to enhance the visibility of the design.




Arica Bodysuit Shoes.jpg Sandals
  • Silver or gray sandals.
  • Sandals have a double strap with a closed heal and toe.
  • Sandals have a flat sole.




Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.


Green contact lens.jpeg Contact Lenses
  • Green contact lenses.
  • This style of contact lens may be worn, if desired.
    • While encouraged to complete the look of this character, the contact lens requirement will be waived for 501st acceptance, if the applicant cannot wear contact lenses for health related reasons.
    • All persons utilizing contact lenses are encouraged to first see their optometrist for a fitting.
